As per WHO, 1 in every 4 people falls victim to a serious mental health condition in life time. Here in India the treatment gap for mental disorders ranges between 70% to 90%. In India the poor condition of mental healthcare is reflected by the scenario of 0.3 number of Psychiatrist per 100,000 populations. As per report India requires 6.5 lakh psychiatric beds for 130 crore population, but available psychiatric beds are only 56,600. The deficit is approximately 6 lakh public psychiatric beds. As such every bed for mental healthcare is important.

a. MNPRC is primarily working on suicide prevention and disability reduction
arising out of mental illness apart from routine services in addiction
psychiatry & acute psychological crisis intervention for pediatric, adult and
geriatric mental health

a. The hospital is registered as Clinical Establishment under section 15 of the
clinical establishments (registration and regulation) Act, 2010 with its
Provisional registration No: 1830300183. The Clinical Establishment is
registered for providing medical services as a sanatorium, psychological
rehabilitation, psychological services, pathology, hematology,
biochemistry, collection centre & neurophysiology under Allopathic System
of Medicine.
5. Foot Fall
a. MNPRC is providing services to the patients of Brahmaputra Valley, Barak
valley, other north eastern states, West Bengal, Bihar and other areas of
Indian subcontinent and to the adjacent Bangladesh. In the year 2021,
MNPRC provided service to 7338 nos of patients which is 63.53% of foot
fall at Department of Psychiatry, GMCH, Guwahati which attended 12,000
patient and awarded as best mental hospital in the north east in the year
2021.
